Xpanceo – Smart Contact Lenses
About
Xpanceo is a Dubai-based deep-tech startup building the future of augmented reality through ultra-thin smart contact lenses. These lenses integrate computing, vision enhancement, and real-time health diagnostics into a seamless, wearable format—pioneering a new way for humans to interact with technology. Founded by Roman Axelrod and Dr. Valentyn Volkov, Xpanceo raised $40 million in seed funding led by Opportunity Ventures. The startup’s prototypes feature embedded micro-displays, gesture/voice control, biosensors for health monitoring, and wireless charging—all within a lens less than 0.2mm thick. With over 40 PhDs working from its Dubai R&D center, Xpanceo is pushing boundaries in photonics, biosensing, and flexible electronics. Their vision includes applications across consumer AR, medical diagnostics, and industrial use cases. Human trials are targeted for 2026, and a full commercial launch by 2027–28. Xpanceo represents Dubai’s push to lead in frontier technology, where innovation meets science fiction.
